Business Lessons Learned from Nonprofit Organizations
Posted on October 18, 2016
We love what we do. We love getting to plan and execute events for multiple clients, and being a part of Velocity Productions means getting to work with many nonprofit organizations. We appreciate all that these organizations do for our community and are honored to have a hand in their causes.
Over the years, we’ve learned a lot. Here are some of the best lessons you can learn from nonprofit organizations:
- Understand the need. Where do you fit into the market? Nonprofit organizations understand the need and how they can help meet it; does your business understand its place within the market?
- Tell your story. Explain the “why” behind your brand and communicate with your audience in a way that inspires them to take action. Make it personal and make it real.
- Create a community. Nonprofit organizations create communities surrounding their causes in order to get the word out and inspire action. In the same way, create a community surrounding your brand and encourage loyal customers. This can be done through social media, your website, events, and more.
- Update your progress. Your audience wants to understand that what you’re doing matters. Update them on real results, and use real testimonials.
If your business is looking to make a big impact in your industry, it may be time to take a look at the tactics of nonprofit organizations.
